Syria 2012 : the war seen from the front

In Syria, the degree of violence has reached a level of extreme and crimes against humanity are being perpetrated. Since March 2011, Bashar el-Assad’s regime has been killing and torturing children, crushing quarters, cities such as Latakia, Homs or Deraa. It has been a year since the beginning of the insurrection, and the death toll has reached approximately 10 000 deaths.

Rami Al-Sayed, his cousin basil, Anas al-Atrsha, Ashar Tayyara, these young men are dead for having filmed and posted the insurrection and the Syrian civil war on the internet : mortar shooting, bombs, misery, deaths… They tell the story that daily violence.

Syrianstories.org brings together fragments of collected information that was broadcasted on the Internet by those early hour witnesses, and gives a view and an idea of the war in Syria.

About us

Syrianstories.org is produced by the uprisingstories.org collective. It is comprised of journalists, academics, graphic designers, software developers and translators.

Since June 2009, uprisingstories.org has been concerned with popular movements in authoritarian regimes.

Iranianstories.org was created in June of 2011. It is a secured web platform on which testimonials related to the 2009 post-electoral upraises in Iran, are collected and broadcasted.

Syrianstories.org is being launched in March 2012, on the sad first anniversary of the beginning of the Syrian Civil war. It rests on Telecomix’ video conservation work.

Iranianstories.org and syrianstories.org are supported by the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH).

Syrianstories.org use video documents selected in a database of hundreds of videos, collected and broadcasted by the Internet activist group Telecomix.
